Immanuel’s Worship and Music Ministries

“Worship is all people coming together to experience, respond to, and grow in Jesus’ love.”  This philosophy of worship, along with our four foundations as a church and our vision statement, help shape and form our worship life at Immanuel.

*all people – Life-long believers, new Christians, and those who are still searching; adults, teens and children are all welcome in worship at Immanuel.

*coming together – Our gathering together to worship as a Christian community identifies who we are and why we exist as a church.

*to experience – We don’t just attend worship, we experience worship – through hugs and touch, through the elements of the sacraments, through kneeling, visuals, and our God-given emotions. We also experience new learning's, insights and understandings.

*respond to – Once we experience the love of Jesus, we respond!  We respond by confessing, praising, singing, and offering back the gifts we’ve been given.  We also respond with petition and supplication, bringing our needs and requests in prayer when we have realized God's mercy

*and grow in – We grow in the coming together, in the experience, in our response and in studying God’s word and applying it to our daily lives

*Jesus’ love – It’s Jesus Christ, “Immanuel, God With Us” whom we worship and who forms this  community of faith into the Body of Christ and makes us one. It takes many individuals working together for worship to happen. Opportunities to support Sunday worship at Immanuel abound!

Welcoming Ministries:  Along with Immanuel members, those serving in this area welcome folks to worship.  They also provide guests with information about Immanuel.  Hosts are stationed at entrances to the church building, at the Welcome Center, and at the entrance to the sanctuary.

Ushers assist with welcoming, handing out worship folders, seating, collecting the offering, communion and other aspects of worship assistance.

Altar Guild:  Serves to set and care for the altar.  This includes, but is not limited to communion service, flowers, candle care, and special festival decorations.

Banner Ministry:  Provides appropriate banners for worship services and baptisms using the resource of Immanuel’s banners as well as making new banners as needed.

Prayer Support Ministry:  Offers prayer support after worship (Classic Grace) and during communion (First Light) for anyone who wishes to have someone pray with and for them.

Scripture Reader:  Reads the Old Testament, Epistle, and Gospel lessons during the 8:00 Classic Grace worship service about once every two months.

Media Shout:  Operates the equipment used to provide visuals on the screen during First Light worship.  Training provided.

Sound Technician:  Operates the soundboard for events in the Worship Center and gymnasium (worship, concerts, meetings, assemblies, etc.) to ensure proper sound quality and technical support.  Training provided.

Video Technician:  Videotapes special services (baptisms, weddings, etc.)  Training provided.

Nursery:  Provides loving care and safety of our “little lambs” during worship services and other special events as needed.

Counters:  Teams count the offerings after worship services, enter the data and deposit the money in the bank.

Organization of a music ministry for worship is as old as the Old Testament temple.   The first music ministry was appointed by King David under the instruction of God Himself: ...all of them trained and skilled in music for the Lord - they numbered 288, young and        old alike (I Chronicles 25:7).  Corporate worship is the first priority of the mission statement of Immanuel Lutheran and many singers and instrumentalists are needed to provide leadership.  Whether you are a child, youth, adult, singer, instrumentalist, actor, artist or technician, there is a place for you to serve.  The Music Ministry at Immanuel is a place    to grow in your understanding of worship, a place for using your gifts in service, and a place to develop close friendships.

Ring Joycers and HIS Ringing BELLievers  are adult handbell choirs which meet on Monday evenings to prepare music for worship and fellowship together.  Ring Joycers,  a three-octave choir, meets from 6-7pm and HIS Ringing BELLievers, a five-octave choir, from 7-8pm.  Members are also given the opportunity to participate in area, state and national handbell festivals.

ROCKn Ringers is our youth handbell choir which meets Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.  This five-octave handbell choir rings for Sunday morning worship and participates in festival worship services along with the adult handbell choirs.

Little Gospel Lights, a group of preschool and kindergarten children, meet each Wednesday evening from 6:00-6:45 to learn more about the Bible, sing, play and pray together.

Bell Bottoms - A beginning children’s handbell choir for 3rd & 4th grade students.  They meet on Wednesday afternoons in the sanctuary from 4:-30-5:00

Radical Ringers - An advanced children’s handbell choir for 5th & 6th grade students and experienced 4th grade ringers.  They meet on Wednesday afternoon in the sanctuary from 4:00-4:30.

Lazer Lights – This K-5th grade worship track meets from 5:00-5:30 on Wednesday evenings and provides children an opportunity to learn about worship as well as preparation to participate in worship on a regular basis through singing, chime ringing, drama, artwork and more.

Immanuel’s Chancel Choir is a classical choir for adults which helps lead our Classic Grace 8:00am worship service as well as festival worship services.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:00pm in the fellowship hall.

Spirit Sounds, our worship team, leads the congregation each Sunday in our First Light contemporary worship service.  Rehearsals are from 8-9am on Saturday mornings.  Instrumentalists and vocalists rotate, participating from one to three times a month.

Instrumentalists - brass, woodwinds and string players - are used on a regular basis throughout the year in worship.  All instrumentalists are invited to participate in festival services with soloists and ensembles participating in weekly worship, both Classic Grace and First Light.

Our Drama team prepares dramas for worship services as well as seasonal events.

Worship Dance Ministry uses dance and movement to express worship and praise.  Opportunities for participation exist for those with or without dance experience.

A Team of Artists is currently working together to incorporate the visual arts into our worship on a more regular basis.  If you're an artist, this is definitely an area for you.

The Sound and Video Ministries are critical components of our worship life.  These ministries provide technical support to, and enhancement of, our worship services and dramatic productions in the areas of audio/video recording for shut‑ins and community broadcast, sound reinforcement, lighting, and multimedia presentations. If your interests run toward the technical, these ministries are for you.

The Worship Planning Team, one of Immanuel’s Core Ministry Teams, meets monthly to discuss worship at Immanuel, from the details of weekly worship themes all the way to the big picture of times and styles of worship services offered.

Ministry Opportunities abound in the area of worship and music at Immanuel  It=s a joy serving side by side with our Christian brothers and sisters as we return the gift back to the Giver during our worship together.  Please contact the church office or Kathy Schlecht, Director of Worship and Music Ministries  (667-4506 or Kathy Schlecht).
